Below is an email I wrote to my church’s group email list. I thought it might be of interest here as well.

I’ve made the case here before about what I believe that switching from Windows or Mac to Open-Source software such as Linux is much more in line with UU core values than not doing so. I believe especially that our Church offices should lead the way in this. Well, I just found this excellent video that explains what I mean and why this is the best time to do that, and I just had to share it.

I have helped people in the past preserve their older computers after Windows dropped support for XP. Now this is happening with Windows 10. People can’t afford to buy new computers just to run Windows 11, and they’re leaving Microsoft like rats diving off a sinking ship.
I can no longer help as much as I did in the past due to health issues, but I’m willing to help as much as possible because this is something I’m passionate about.
I’m mostly available at night, but I’d be happy to talk anyone through this transition. If you call me in the daytime I’ll be sleeping and have the ringer off, so leave a message or a text. I’m at 208 992 6491.
